X200s sound card vanished.

#1 Post by gordox60 » Thu Jun 24, 2010 11:54 am

Hi Guys,

I replaced the lower casing on my X200s yesterday as I had dropped it and cracked the case.

The swapout went pretty smoothly, but I have completely lost the onboard sound card.

Win 7 tells me there is no audio device in my laptop and the device manager doesn't show it either.

I thought it might have been the ribbon cable from the IO board to the mainboard, but the USB port on the IO board is alive, so that doesn't seem likely.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Gordon.

Chances are it's going to be a bad connection at the ZIF cable either underneath the I/O card or at the systemboard. Just because one signal is good (USB) does not mean the cable is in correctly. .e.g. It could be cocked to one side allowing one signal to pass and not the other (sound).

Thanks for the tip.

I did try reseating both sides of the cable this morning, with no luck, but i'll give it another shot.

Regards

Gordon
