T42 - after RAM replacement system crashed ;(

#1 Post by pafka99 » Thu Jul 01, 2010 3:31 am

Hi.
I decided to upgrade memory in my T42 (2473-Q16). Now I have 2x 512MB RAM. I've bought two sticks Kingston 1GB PC2700 CL 2.5 DDR 333MHz (code on top of the box - KVR333X64SC25/1G). After replacement, the win XP start, I log in and the system freezes. I did PC Doctor test and all memory test PASSED. I tried to change to 1 x 1GB, 1 GB + 512MB, 2 x 1GB, but the result is the same :| What's wrong?

Thanks,
Paulie ;)

There have been compatibility problems reported in the past with Kingston Value RAM and the Thinkpad T4X series. My recommendation would be to try a different manufacturers modules. For example in every T4X machine I've ever owned I only installed Crucial branded PC2700 and never had one issue.

Thanks Harry. I'm going to change Kingston brand for A-Data, DDR333MHz 1GB. Let see...
