T 60 bios boot-able space

#1 Post by asmith219 » Thu Jul 01, 2010 6:22 pm

I have a T60 that I am trying to install Lenovo rescue and recovery program on, and every time I try to install the program I get a message about not enough boot-able space.... how do I clear up boot able space so I can install this program

Admin note: Moved from the RAGZ forum

Do you have a recovery partition and does it function? Hold down the Thinkvantage button on boot.

OK yeah I held down the access IBM button and went into the bios, but how do I know if I have a recovery partition, how do I tell if it is functioning properly and how do I free up boot-able space to install rescue and recovery?

thanks for your post and your advice, but I want to install the rescue and recovery program, not restore the computer.

Yes, but you can't do one without the other. The Rescue & Recovery program and it's installer rely on a valid and working recovery partition.

I recently installed a western digital hard drive, so maybe the rescue and recovery wont work with this hard drive

It will work just fine, but you have to install a recovery partition using IBM/Lenovo recovery CD's, or you would have had to clone the entire original drive (including the recovery partition) from the old drive to the new one. If you didn't do one of those (2) things you'd have to start from scratch because the recovery CD's (assuming that you have them) overwrite the entire drive with a factory image. Also if you didn't do one of those (2) things you can't run the Rescue & Recovery program.

No, the recovery images are not down-loadable. You're best best is to place a WTB (wanted to buy) AD in our Marketplace forum.
