Wireless problem on R51

#1 Post by thePCxp » Sun Mar 06, 2005 1:08 am

I have a problem with the wireless on my R51.
I got my R51 back on Friday after I sent it to IBM to replace the system board and when I turned it on, my wireless was turned off so I pressed the Fn + F5 buttons and discovered that only the Bluetooth radio was there but not the wireless radio. I then restarted and went to the IBM BIOS and I think that the system only recognizes the wireless card but not the Operating System.
Can someone please help me?

First, make sure the wireless card actually is there, sometimes, support, even reputable support teams, will leave you in the dust. After you verify that it's there and IBM used the correct parts, try reinstalling the drivers and make sure there are no hardware conflicts. Also make sure the device itself is enabled and properly working in the Windows device manager.

I checked if the wireless card is there and it is there. But how do I reinstall the drivers and how do I make sure the device is enabled?

Do you mean you physically looked to see if the miniPCI card was in the machine? If so, then it sounds to me like the card isn't inserted all the way. Release the latches, and reinstall the card. The same physical appearance applies to memory as to miniPCI:

I reinstalled the wireless card and it works now. I think that the card wasn't inserted all the way.
Thanks for all of the help.
