my keyboard volume control buttons arent working now?!?!

#1 Post by ephemeralskin » Sun Mar 06, 2005 2:00 am

hello. first post. very happy to have found this forum since ibm customer support these days is rather - cough - poor.
i have a g40 that is only a few months old. after some installation issues with a printer i decided to try reinstalling windows. the reinstall actually fixed *that* problem, but gave me a new one: all the ibm software was preloaded so i was left with downloading whatever i needed off of the ibm support website. after an entire day of downloads, installations and finetuning, etc everything seems to be working except--- my audio buttons on the keyboard do nothing! it used to be that when i pressed a button a nice green volume meter appeared momentarily at the bottom of the screen registering a change in volume. but now not only does the graphic not appear, but the buttons do not change a thing! my soundmax soundcard is working and i can adjust the volume in the sound settings, but ......... how do i get the buttons to work again?
thanks so much for any help or suggestions!

Download the Hotkey drivers for ThinkPads from this site

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... g=en&cc=US

For the OSD, you can download the latest display drivers (assume that you have ATI GPU in your ThinkPad). After installation, right click on your desktop, Properties > Settings > Advanced and click on the "Onscreen Display" tab and customize...
