Cloning a SSD to a Mechanical Drive[External]

#1 Post by tomartom » Sat Jul 03, 2010 7:28 pm

I want to clone my SSD 64G onto an external disk, as I am paranoid that if I get malware or a virus that changes my registry, an image would not remove or repair the damage caused. (Please feel free to correct me).

Secondly, I would also like the option to image the disk as well as an incremental way of restoring data that has been accidently deleted.

I am on mobile broadband and recently I had to do a clean install and the downloads from IBM and Microsoft used most of my data allowance, so an effective back up solution is important.

One of the issues that came out of the search for Back up solutions is that Acronis (previous versions I think) had problems restoring images/back ups. Has this issue been resolved in the 2010 version?

Guys many thanks, and if you can assist me that would be great.

Regards Tony

Go buy Acronis True Image Home version. Very nice backup/restore, in both full & incremental versions. Burn the bootable CD/DVD disk, keep a copy of the backed up C: on another drive or DVD and you should be all set.
