g40 battery life

#1 Post by ephemeralskin » Sun Mar 06, 2005 3:08 pm

i bought this computer new in january.

the 'maximiser' battery information states that the battery is in 'good condition':

sanyo nimh
full capacity: 28.48 Wh
design capacity: 43.24 Wh
cycle count: 40
first used date: 8.2004
last refresh date: 3.5.05

why does 'good condition' not equal the 'design capacity'? is my batterys capacity the normal 'good' condition? are there replacement batterys that would give me better performance?

also, the battery monitor seems to jump (without any change in what im doing) from 40-20 minutes remaining to suddenly 10-4 minutes remaining. but then i can continue using it a good 10-15 minutes *after* the '0 min remaining' point. is this a bug in windows or in the ibm software or...?

thanks!

Seems your battery is faulty, do you realy have a NIMH Batery? I suggest you to send the Battery back for exchanging.

I meant that, but i dunno, perhaps i'm wrong.
full capacity: 28.48 Wh

You reach that only if you have a bad charging/discharging behavior or a NiMH.
