Source for X40 battery

#1 Post by mgb » Mon Jul 19, 2010 9:22 am

I'm looking at purchasing a used x40 locally, however the seller says the battery does not hold much of a charge. Lenovo's site says they are out of stock of both 4 and 8 cell batteries. Are there other reliable sources for batteries (I see plenty of other sources - but are their products reliable)?

I just bought one, 8 cell, from the Lenovo outlet, http://outlet.lenovo.com/accessories/batteries.html. I think they have the 4 and 8 cell there. They might be a little more expensive than the ones you find on ebay, but I hope it will be new, just with cosmetic damage.

I had looked at those after seeing your note. May have to bite the bullet.

Check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0395401205

If you're looking for an 8-cell this seems like a good price if its really a new battery. Alternatively, I have a new, old stock 4-cell here that I'd part with for $30 shipped.

I received my 8cell from Lenovo outlet. The battery itself looks brand new, the box is came in was abused, hence the scratch and dent term. Cycles were at 0, manufactured in June 2009, 65 wh capacity. So, happy with the purchase, even though it was a little pricey. Now, power manager shows 6-7 hours of battery life on low wattage profile.

I was disappointed with some non IBM batteries.
I've heard jadescomputer sells good IBM batteries (but shipping outside US is expensive) : http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=81323

Virge : would you be willing to ship the 4-cell battery to France ?
(usps shipping cost should be below $11 : http://ircalc.usps.gov/MailServices.asp ... 13&m=6&p=1 )
(I've got a US paypal account)
Thanks !
