What are the speeds of T42 multi-burner for RW?

#1 Post by edelrc » Mon Mar 07, 2005 2:48 pm

I jus bought media CD-RW but now I noticed it says:

"CD-RW 8x-10x, For Hi-Speed Drives Only."

Does our drives qualify??? I tried to look that on thinkpad specs, Nero InfoTool... but no luck. Something so basic and I can´t find it... :?
X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it
T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)
A20p 2629-6UU 1400x1050 (My first Thinkpad!)

These newer Hi-Speed CD-RW discs use thinner alloy layers that are rated only for 4-10X recording. These discs may not be recognized by the IBM 2X drive.

It is a Vervatim brand.

Notice they are CD, not DVD disks. I know max speed for DVD is 2x, but at what speeds does our drives burn CD-RW?

Sorry, I've been writing too many DVDs! The write speed is 16x. You are fine! :-)

Wow, IBM´s service it´s good, but this forum is incredible fast!!!!

Thanks Leon! So I guess I am OK, in spite of that the media will slow my driver from 16X to 10X. It is fine with me.

Thanks again and best wishes.
