Win 7 Home Prem to Pro upgrade on netbook.

#1 Post by sgmidf » Tue Jul 20, 2010 9:27 am

I'm looking at a friend's netbook that has Win 7 Home Premium installed, along with several other programs like Office, PS etc. I have a Win 7 Pro upgrade CD ( ISO as well as an EXE version). Do I need to do a clean install to upgrade or is there an easier way...either with the new key or from within Windows with the exe? I'd just as soon not have to reinstall all of the software, but obviously can if I need to.

Thanks

Right click on the computer icon and select properties. The window will open and you'll see a line under Windows edition that says "Get more features with a new edition of Windows 7". Click on that, and select "Enter an upgrade key". Input your Pro key and the pro features will be unlocked. You don't have to reinstall anything and in a few minutes, the network will be upgraded to Pro.
