My T61p does not start anymore

#1 Post by pianoforte » Tue Jul 20, 2010 1:56 pm

I`ve got a Thinkpad T61p with 14" SXGA+. About a month after the warranty expiration I seem to have got a severe problem: The Thinkpad does not start at all. Instead it just gives me a beep message that goes as follows:
long - short short short - short short short - long

When I turn the unit on I hear noise from the ultrabay (DVD - Burner) and from the hard disk. The Display does not turn on at all. After the beep nothing else happens.

The problem came almost out of nowhere. The Thinkpad did not drop or anything similar.

Is there any hope? I already changed the ram with no success :(

Try searching the Error Codes on Lenovo support site online.

Also, there was a Power button "trick" that could help.

A 1-3-3-1 beep sequence is RAM related. Reseat or replace your RAM.
