T42 no longer recongizes Dock II >>

#1 Post by Tim M » Tue Jul 20, 2010 3:54 pm

I attempted to recondition my battery forgetting that the Dock II inexplicably disconnects the battery from the TP (i.e., if there is a power failure, the computer shuts down instead of running from the battery). Ergo, when the reconditioning operation began, there were some error beeps and the computer shut off.

Rebooting, the computer was stuck to the dock, not receiving any power from it. I used the emergency release (the hole to the left of the lock) to separate the computer from the dock. Rebooting numerous times both docked and un-docked, the machine no longer recognizes the dock. Is there a known fix or has the dock (amazingly) failed?

EDIT: False alarm. I separated the computer from the dock, shut it down, then unplugged the dock for about five minutes. I then plugged in the dock, attached the computer, and booted it (as per the User Guide). The dock is now recognized.

Must've been some sort of drive issue.
