Wireless "N" card problems with T43p

Hey there,

New to this forum.

I've got a couple of Thinkpad T43p units that I'm trying to put a mini PCI wireless ''n'' card in.

The cards are manufactured by TP-LINK, model WN861N Ver 2 and are designed to work with a two wire antenna system, like the computers have.

Of course I get the 1802-unauthorized network card installed message when the machines are started. All the information I could find online was back from 2006 or so and the fixes all say they don't work with T42/T43 and newer BIOS machines.

can anyone offer any help>? it seems ridiculous to me that Lenovo at this late in the game would still be restricting use of the PCI card slot.

Welcome to the forum!

For a use of a non-approved card on a T43/p units, you need a modded (Zender's) BIOS. Classic "no-1802" hack doesn't work on them.

I don't have a copy of it, but am certain that someone else will come to your rescue.

I downloaded the zip file and looked at the files in the directory, but have no idea how to apply the fix to my 2668. Anyone have some advice/help on that. Thanks

You need WinPhlash utility to flash the BIOS http://rapidshare.com/files/266698132/W ... 7.16.0.rar

I have tried to download the mod BIOS for T43 as well a the WinPhlah utility but it was not possible from rapidshare. Can you suggest any other way?
