X41 and the new X series Tablet
X41 and the new X series Tablet
Do any of you have detailed information about either one of the new X series pc's that are supposed to come out soon? I just sold my X40 in hopes of buying a new X41 or maybe a tablet style thinkpad or even a T43.
Like some of you have contemplated in the past, I was thinking about going with the 14" T43 instead of getting another Xseries but I already own a loaded out 15" T42p (2373KXU).
Have any of you made the change from an X to a T and then back to X because you missed the size of the X?

I too am getting tried of waiting. However, something tells me we are going to have to wait a lot longer.
Intel is experiecing a shortage of the Centrino and 915 chipsets,

and currently the majority of the thinkpads are manufacted in China by Great Wall Technology, which is Lenovo's arch-rival.

This week it is gone, only a rudimentary preview article.
Maybe IBM intervened.
Did you mean this page?

Nothing much is really said there though..

Good info on the tablet but I jumped the gund and purchased the X41. If it comes out within 30 days of me getting my X41 that is supposed to come some time in may, I might switch over to it.

From the pictures, it looks like IBM has added room for the 8-cell battery. It no longer looks like a kludge.
They should have done this for the X41 since Intel's Somona draws too much current for the 4-cell battery. But, then they could not have bragged on the weight of 2.7 lbs and the depth of 8.3 inches.
The X41 is a fine machine, and IBM made the right move incorporationg Somona with its better integrated graphics. It's just the marketing hype, I do not like. The Tabook does give the correct specifications for the X41 i.e. weight of 3.3 lbs with a depth of 9.3 inches.

Looks like the tablet X41 is either on hold or is going back into hiding.
IBM requested the FCC remove their request for FCC authorization. Could they have only done this to stop the widespread distribution of the prototype images or could they have done this because they are going back to the drawing board?

That's a shame. It would have been nice if it had come out, but better they release it when its ready...if they can come up with a nice solid machine rightout it would put to rest a lot of the "Levono ruining TP" fears...at least I think so.

I sure would like to know when the X41 Tablet is due, as I have pretty much decided that my next likely purchase will be such a tablet PC device and if I can get a modern tablet PC that is a ThinkPad, I'd be super happy
Besides the X40 from what I have seen is gorgeous!
That and I am presently not in possession of a ThinkPad, which is most odd for me! (I traded up from my T23 to a certain other laptop bearing D600 which I most impressed and more than happy with for the controversial record
