My "primary" PC is a somewhat old desktop running WinXP Pro SP3, 3.2GHz P4, 2.5GB mem. The config of my new T410 is in my sig below. My ISP is Verizon FiOS. I currently have the 25/15MB service which is over-provisioned. With both PCs wired to ports on my router, I am seeing a big difference in upload speed. I tested to the Verizon speed test website and ran one test right after the other to try and keep it an apples-to-apples comparison. The T410 was fully charged and connected to a/c power for the test.
Here are the results:
Desktop: 30.784MB download, 24.634MB upload
T410: 30.744MB download, 8.585MB upload
Any idea why the big difference in upload? Are there any settings I can tweak?

Re: T410 Internet Upload Speed Slow!?!
My understanding is that there's a couple of tweaks you can do to the MTU and and RWIN parameters. For information, consult:
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/tweaks
Prior to editing the Windows Registry, be sure to take backups so that you can get back to your original settings in case something goes wrong. The easiest way to do that would be to use the System Restore utility and create a restore point.
Wish I had 1/10th your speed from my AT&T DSL line....

Re: T410 Internet Upload Speed Slow!?!
Thanks, Ray
The DSLR FAQ for Win 7 didn't offer much specific info (or it was way over my head and I didn't understand it). I'll have to go back over it again.
When you referenced speedguide.net, a lightbulb came on in my head. I had previously used TCP Optimizer from that website on my WinXP desktop and my old T21 when I first got FiOS and it did help my speeds. For some reason, I dismissed the program because I thought (incorrectly it turned out) there wasn't a Win 7 compatible version. I was wrong, the current version is Win 7 compatible. So I downloaded, installed and ran it. Unfortunately, it made no difference in my upload speed - 8.605MB. I'll have to do more reading on that website as well.
Sorry about your AT&T DSL

Re: T410 Internet Upload Speed Slow!?!
Well, I'm confused (which isn't saying much)
Verizon has their own Speed Optimizer for FiOS, so I followed their Win 7 instructions and ran it by first starting IE to run as Administrator. It ran, completed normally but provides no detail of what it did.
I then ran TCP Optimizer to see what if any changes had been made to those settings - none! All the parameters said "no change" so I have no idea what the Verizon Optimizer did, if anything.
Anyway, I ran the same speed test as yesterday and this time (TA-DA) got these results:
T410: 30.733MB download, 23.789MB upload
Much better - more in line with what I get on the desktop. I'm a happy camper
Now, I'll go test running wireless. I know, I'm a glutton for...
