Battery problem.. please help....

#1 Post by dmjun1 » Tue Aug 03, 2010 8:59 pm

I've got a problem with my battery. Is it dead and I need a new batter or what is the problem??

I bought my X200 about a year ago. It has a 9 cell battery on it. I've been experiencing some batter problems recently. It hasn't been holding a charge for very long and has been draining really quickly. I didn't think much about it. I recently went on a trip for a week. Before I left I charged up the battery and shut the laptop down. After coming back from my trip I charged the battery up and started the laptop up. The battery said 82% available, plugged in,not charging. I wasn't sure what was going on so I unplugged the power cord and the laptop just shut off. I tried again and when I unplugged the power cord it shut off again. I went into the Battery Manager and went to the tab Batter. It says "The Battery is in good condition" but it also says No activity next to Status. The following day the batter meter now read 81%, I have no idea. If the battery is dead why would the percentage go down by 1%.

Is the battery dead?? Why did I do something wrong?? Do I need to just buy a new battery??
Anyone have any ideas?? The battery is only a year old, it should be dead already right??

I'm not sure if this will help, but have you tried going into the 'battery maintenance' section then performing a battery gauge reset? It might force your battery into charging again, or if your battery is truly dead it might tell you that as well. That's the first thing I'd do... it's worth a shot at least.
