R60 motherboard in a R61
R60 motherboard in a R61
will it work?
Re: R60 motherboard in a R61
The answer is mostly no, but the answer is more complicated than a yes or no. The R60 machines don't work the same as the T60 machines. (I exclude the T60 wide models, which are completrely different.) The 14" and 15" T60 machines use the same motherboards with an interposer added to extend the connectors on 15" models. R60 4:3 machines use entirely different motherboards on 14" vs. 15" machines. Most R61 are wide screen models which will fit no R60. I believe all the R61 non-wide models are 15", so unless you have a 15" R60, the answer is certainly "no". I don't know if the mounting holes on the R61 15" structure frame and base are exactly the same as those on R60. I know that on the T60 vs T61 non-wide models, some of the holes don't line up, so you cannot use all the screws.
