Will a T43 LCD SXGA 14.1 screen (and lid) fit a T42?

Will a T43 LCD SXGA 14.1 screen (and lid) along with inverter fit a T42 chassis? Are there other significant chassis differences between these two models? Thanks in advance for information and advice.

Short answer - yes providing the T42 is also 14.1".

Use the LCD (internal video) cable that comes with the T43 screen / lid assembly.

There may be a white bluetooth antenna cable (as well as the black and grey wi-fi ones). If your T42 is not fitted with a bluetooth / modem module tuck it under the module but make sure the antenna connector doesn't short on the motherboard / modem - a piece of tape helps.

Other than that they are mechanically the same and interchangeable (yup you could put the T42 lid assembly on the T43).

There's one caveat!
If the receiving 14.1" T4x has integrated Intel graphics, the SXGA+ LCD will NOT work!

How do I tell this on the receiving machine? Thanks.

All T40/41/42 and their /p versions came with ATI GPUs ex factory (ATI-7500 standard, ATI-9000 for the better models).
If the mobo was never swapped out for an R50/R51 Intel-GPU mobo, you should be fine.
