Looking for a keyboard with a power button

#1 Post by Outatime1989 » Sun Aug 15, 2010 12:54 pm

I want to use my T60 at home hooked up to an external mouse keyboard and monitor, but i want to have the lid closed (It would be on a shelf where it doesn't fit with the lid open). Is there a keyboard that i can attach that would allow me to turn on the computer from it instead of having to open the lid?

I don't think such a keyboard exists. Why not simply purchase an Advanced Mini Dock. It has it's own power button. It doesn't cost any more than a decent keyboard.

I'm using a laptop right now with an external keyboard and monitor with the lid closed (in a dock). I always use the menu to put it to sleep. Actually, the Dell keyboard in front of me has a Sleep button on it, but I'm not sure if that works on any make. Maybe I'll try that right after finishing this comment. I have seen generic keyboards with Sleep buttons on them.

Yes, the Sleep button worked. :D I am using a Dell laptop with a Dell keyboard, but the Sleep button is probably a generic function. I'd borrow a keyboard with Sleep and try it on your T60. You didn't specify what OS you are using. It might make a difference.

The only one good thing that I can say about an old HP Vectra VL (400?) tower desktop that I had at my last job was the fact that you could turn the system on by just pressing the space bar. There was a BIOS setting which allowed you to enable/disable that function. Very handy if the box was located underneath a desk.
