Windows 7 on T400 fingerprint reader problem

#1 Post by rotarymike » Sun Aug 15, 2010 10:48 pm

yes, I've searched. :)

T400 7417, 2GB, 160GB
Windows 7 Professional 32bit, installed from clean HDD.

Installed Lenovo drivers for hotkey, AMT, Power, Ultranav, Card Reader, and Intel flash cache (name?) as well as fingerprint software listed on driver matrix.

When I first boot up from power off, the reader works fine and lets me log in.

When I resume from standby, I get a 'This computer is in use and locked by user xx' when I swipe my finger. I have to click Other, then login with uname and password.

Fingerprint reader functioned perfectly under Windows XP.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, etc, to no avail.

Any ideas?

Are you installed ThinkVantage Password Manager?

No, I'm not using the Password Manager.

I finally figured it out. For others searching the forae:

You must:
1. delete the fingerprint data from the sensor
2. then uninstall the software
3. then install Windows 7
4. reinstall the proper Win7 version
5. re-log your fingerprints.

When that order is followed, it works fine. Windows will keep the 'Please Wait' until the sensor is powered back on from Standby (as reported by Sxstrace).
