Lenovo G550 -auto changing from alpha to numeric

When typing alpha characters laptop will change to numeric characters. If I tap an 'a' the number '0' appears. If I tap the 'a' again the number 1 appears, tap 'a' again the number 2 appears and so on. this is true of any key I tap. Any solutions would be helpful.

I had this happen when I used to use Windoze.
I think the issue was with the Accessibility Config.
Can't recall the exact name - the one for people who have issues typing or reading the screen.

If you hit/hold a key for too long the keyboard "switches" automatically.
Then you have to hold down a key again to switch back/release the setting.

Sorry, that's all i can recall - well, that and it was very frustrating!!!
