what T40 hard drive to buy?

Hi

On Ebay there seems to be a multitude of hard drives but l'm not sure which one l need. I need what will work best and l don't need any storage. I use it mostly for the internet and for sending pic's.

Because my friends send me all kinds of wacky things l'm sure my hard drive needs a replacement rather then wiping it clean. It takes too much effort unless there is a CD that l can buy that does it all.

Also when l bought this T40 (Ebay) it came with an OS XP professional 1-2cpu already installed, plus the microsoft sticker on the bottom. I bought it from a reseller.

When l swap the Hard drives l will have to load the OS which l will have to hunt for it tonight to see if l can find it. If l can't find it, then what??

PS It takes my computer at least 25 minutes to warm up and then it freezes from time to time.

The freezing thing is worrisome. The T40's are known for a loose GPU problem.

The GPU is a problem if it is in fact what is causing my problems.

My problems are as follows;

startup takes a while
the computer will freeze and l will have to close down AOL and restart.
the longer l am on the less it will freeze until it stops all together.

The T40 is of course old and in todays market laptops are very cheap, in fact probably cheaper to replace it then fix it. I wioll look for my OS and if l find it l will order what you suggested.
