X200 Scrambled Screen -- Bad Connector? -- VGA Out Works

#1 Post by cerealbowl » Wed Aug 18, 2010 2:07 pm

Hi, I've been having recent trouble w/ my X200, and found you guys, hoping someone could help.

Basically, it looks like this:

It happens initially when I would open/close it, and sometimes I can fix it by adjusting the screen slightly. Plugging in an external monitor works perfectly normal. I'm thinking it has something to do with the connection between the card and the screen, but I'm not sure what part that is. Any help would be appreciated.

Model: X200
Product ID: 7454CTO

Thanks - CB

if you are still under warranty, I think you'd better call Lenovo.

Not -- 28 days past the end of warranty. Sucks.

It's either the LCD or the cable. If you can flex the lid and make the problem disappear I'd be more inclined to say it's a bad LCD. Try the cable first though ... reseat it at both ends. If that doesn't work replace it.

Thanks!

When you say "flex the lid", do you mean the lid itself, or the hinge? To clarify, I moved the hinge, not the lid, to get it working.

I meant literally (gently) flex the lid. I'd try a cable first if simply moving the hinges changes the symptoms.
