Repair or Cover-Up of External Surface
I have an old T41 that has much of the rubbery surface of the exterior badly worn on the right and left edges of the cover. There's also a gouge in the rubbery surface across the right, front corner of the cover.
Does anyone have any ideas on repair or cover-up?
I recall some sites that offer vinyl, stick-on covers but don't recall their urls. I'll search for them.
Otherwise, I suppose contact paper, neoprene or other rubbery material would do with either hot glue or contact cement.
Please advise.

Re: Repair or Cover-Up of External Surface
T41 parts are cheap these days. If the machine is in otherwise good condition just replace the lid. Place a wanted to buy Ad in our Marketplace forum if you want to buy one from a member.
Re: Repair or Cover-Up of External Surface
I have related question with this, is it possible to disassembly and remove lid without removing hinges from base (keep them on place)? Because I don't have spare screws which need to be replaced after each hinge removal. Thanks.

Re: Repair or Cover-Up of External Surface
There is no need to use new screws.
Re: Repair or Cover-Up of External Surface
It is possible to do that, but you'd have to completely disassemble the LCD to get the hinges off of the side of the LCD. That would be silly and counter-productive. As goofyGAguy says, just reuse the screws.lukee wrote:... is it possible to disassemble and remove lid without removing hinges from base (keep them on place)?
Re: Repair or Cover-Up of External Surface
I've read in some manual, that each disassembly requires to use new screws because re-used screws will not fit as well as a new ones with small piece of glue (I think it's special Loctite glue for screws) on screw's coils.

Re: Repair or Cover-Up of External Surface
That is indeed the manufacturers recommendation, but if you only remove the screws once enough loctite would remain on the screws to hold them adequately. If you really want to get crazy about it you could recoat them with Loctite #222.

Got myself a ThinkPad 600E with broken hinges, can I repair old hinges instead of buying new ones?
