so through MIT's govconnection catalog, the best model to get seems to be the 2668-C2U ... pentium M 760 (2.0ghz), 512mb ddr2, 80gb 5400rpm, 64mb ati x300, combo drive, 14.1" sxga+, intel a/b/g
its $1720, which to me seems to be a fairly good deal ... is there any way to get a similar or better deal from somewhere else?
i have two complaints about this model - no fingerprint reader and no bluetooth ...
is there anyway to add either of those later? i guess if the fingerprint reader is built into the chasis that can't be done, but what about the internal bluetooth adapter? is that bluetooth 2.0?
thanks

The retail is about $2800 so that you're getting a 38.5% discount. I think that is an excellent discount.
I'm not certain you'll be able to get bluetooth or fingerprint reader.
Check the tabook.pdf on this page for all of the models:
http://www5.pc.ibm.com/us/me.nsf/relate ... e&cntry=US
Also, you might be able to check the Hardware Maint Manual to see if your model already has a Bluetooth antenna and then you can add Bluetooth on your own Bluetooth mini-PCI.
There is a pointer the the HMM in the FAQ in my signature.

Re: t43 edu models
That's a great price for a t-series, period. One of mine was through MIT as well - the machine itself was for a great price, the accidental protection program and peripheral prices were a lot higher than other schools' and discounts, though.jsklar wrote:so through MIT's govconnection catalog, the best model to get seems to be the 2668-C2U ... pentium M 760 (2.0ghz), 512mb ddr2, 80gb 5400rpm, 64mb ati x300, combo drive, 14.1" sxga+, intel a/b/g
