Wireless Turns Off

#1 Post by jcnj6 » Wed Aug 25, 2010 4:06 pm

I have a T60 1952-43U

Randomly the wireless antenna turns off (the light on the dislplay goes dark) and I loose the wireless link. I must reboot to make it work
and,
Fn F5 shows the wireless still on, and turning it off and on does nothing
and
Contrl panel, system, hardware, device manager, network adaptors, "Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection", . . advance tab, shows the wireless is on and functioning ok (turning this on/ off does nothing)
also
switching the wireless switch on the lower front of the computer makes no diference (i do get the message that it is switching on/off the wireless devices)

Im wondering if there is a conflict between windows XP and ThinkVantage Access Conncections software

Any other thoughts?
Thanks
Rich

Go into advanced properties for the WiFI card in device manager. Check that all power savings are set to disabled. You want max power for that card. You may have to reboot to see the new settings take effect. If you are running Thinkvantage Power Management, do the same...max performance settings.

Remove access connections manager. I had the same issue on several T4x and T6x series laptops and traced it back to that app. I uninstalled it and now just use the windows network manager. No issues with wireless since.

I heartily endorse the above, and it'll probably do the trick. If it doesn't, take a look at this thread for the additional stuff that I found it necessary to do:

I hope this helps you eliminate the problem. From personal expereience, I know that it's an extremely vexing one.

That was a good thread, it was. All the bits and pieces you need to do in one handy place. Check it out.
