T410s SSD hard drive size recommendation?

#1 Post by PilotDave » Wed Aug 25, 2010 9:28 pm

Dear forum friends,

Could you please make a recommendation on configuring a new T410s hard drive size? It will run 64 bit Windows 7 Pro, standard MS Office applications, lots of pictures, perhaps some family video editing in the future, but no gaming or music.

The new 410s are currently offered with a max 128 GB SSD hard drive, although a larger SSD is available and compatible after market: the 256GB FDE Solid State Drive (Lenovo #43N3417) for $800.00.

I would like to buy a new T410s on a sale that ends today and would like to have a SSD; however, I am cautious because my wife's T410s with a 250 GB conventional hard drive that is only 4 months old says that its HD is half full already. I added up the size of her folders and can not figure out why Windows properties thinks her HD is half full. Perhaps there is a hidden partition? That will require some homework.

In any case, do you think I can live comfortably with a 128 GB SSD or should I wait until a larger SSD is the standard? Thank you!

Sincerely,

Dave

I can't tell you what you'll think, but I can tell you what I did. I changed the specs on my machine, ordered yesterday - downgraded from the 128GB SSD to the 250GB HD, then ordered the separate 256GB Lenovo SSD. It's $639 from the IBM shareholder site.
