Thinkpad X60 error loading Operating System

#1 Post by ecsontag » Fri Aug 27, 2010 8:31 am

During my last Thinkvantage reset factory conditions restoration, my laptop lost its power. When I restarted the X60 Laptop,
I got the error "error loading operating system".
I tried the Thinkvantage button again, but the error wouldn't disappear. The Thinkvantage button just interrupted the booting and gave me a boot options. :x

I loaded WinXP using a MSDN Disc on C Drive on the same harddisk, and load the Drivers for X60.
I found the D Partition SERVICEV001 with all the Thinkvantage restore contents. :D

My Question is: Given my current system state, How do I get back the previous state of the system with the Thinkvantage button.
I would want to be able to perform my system restores using the Thinkvantage button.

Thanks in Advance

Reload the rescue and recovery environment from discs. You have them right? Just a word of caution that this process will erase the entire hard drive. So back-up important data.

Post a wanted to buy AD in the Marketplace forum here. You could also try installing Thinkvantage Rescue & Recovery. It may allow you to create a recovery set if the partition is intact.

You don't! If you have not made your own backup, then you cannot get back to the "previous state" (except for the null case, where the "previous state" is the factory-shipped state).

The recovery disks can do no more than return you to a "virgin" state, i.e., the way the system was shipped from Lenovo. If that is what you want, then read the Private Message (PM) that I sent you.

Good luck!
