WIndows XP Sound Driver for T22

#1 Post by asiafish » Wed Mar 09, 2005 7:46 pm

Is there an IBM-provided sound driver for Windows XP and the T22? I've been to IBM's website and it just shows native OS support, but I've had problems with some sounds stuttering and badly distorting (slowing down significantly).

My T22 is a full 1.0 GHz and has 512MB of ram, so its obviously not a matter of my computer being too slow. Also, everything else works perfectly and the system is very fast overal., which leads me to believe that its either a driver issue (I hope) or a hardware issue limited to the sound card (hope not).

ROM or HD disk access is happening when the sound stutters?

Doesn't seem to be. When deleting emails, for instance, four or five will go smoothly (the sound), then one will be slow and distorted (though the email still deletes immediately).

I had the same problem on my T22 when performing a clean install of XP. I had to do a clean install of 2000 Pro and upgrade to XP. The driver worked fine seemingly from being inherited. "Native" support from clean XP never did work, even if I tried the W2K driver.

Good luck

Well at least its not my hardware. I'll try to force the Win2K driver, I really don't trust upgrade installations so that is out.

Yes, SP2 and all of the patches.
