In Canada, looking for for an X201s

#1 Post by cogitordi » Sat Aug 28, 2010 12:58 pm

The US Lenovo outlet has a number of X201s notebooks; I can't even *find* the Lenovo Canada outlet. The US outlet doesn't ship outside the US. (R.I.P. customer service.)

Any Canucks here with tips for buying one of these notebooks?

What I'd like is an X201s without ultranav, having 4GB RAM and any version of 64-bit M-Windows that can connect to network shares (i.e. Windows pro or business).

You dont have any American friends?
Other option is to take a vacation to Seattle or Detroit. I'm assuming you live close to those places.

Having an expensive item shipped to a temporary address is not always possible and practical.

Anyone who would like to help me obtain one of these is welcome to reply here or by personal message. (o:

Third choice: International Mail Forwarding Services. Of course you have to trust that the company will handle your package securely and not grossly overcharge you for shipping your item. Some of them will take pictures at your request. The downside is that they are bound by law to report the value of the goods being imported. In other words, you might get hit with duties/taxes.

Do a search on shopbot.ca here and you can find a few online retailers in Canada that sells a few different pre-configured models.
