T42 will not standby or hibernate

#1 Post by ABD2005 » Thu Mar 10, 2005 12:58 am

The T42 I've had for about a year has recently failed to standby or hibernate. When I try it, I'm told that the device driver for the 101/102 Key Keyboard or Microsoft PS/2 Natural Keyboard prevents standby or hibernation. I've tried updating the driver, etc., but that doesn't help. Can't think of anything else. Any ideas?

Standby-Hypernate Fix

#2 Post by BobsThinkPad » Thu Mar 10, 2005 1:48 am

I'm not sure if this is specifically what is causing your problem but if you happen to have a old version of ATM (4.0) installed the system won't go into standby. This is installed by some older Adobe Photo applications. This Microsoft article describes the problem in more detail and the fix.

The fix is simply to remove ATM 4.0 using Add/Remove programs. Hope this helps. It fixed the problem on my T42...Bob
