Any old IBM PS/2'ers here?
Any old IBM PS/2'ers here?
Just got back in the saddle with my Thinkpad. I pretty much created the FAQ for the PS/2 lineup in it's heyday.
An old mirror:

Anyway...just wondering if anyone used them. As a kid (I came from Apple //e's) it was fun to play with a computer line that could be expanded so differently.

Yes, I used a PS/2 in about 1992 when I was with IBM. IIRC it had a very early version of Windows which was upgraded to version 3.1 to make it more useful.

Yupper - had a boat anchor/Model 80 PS/2 back around 1994 or so. Nice unit at the time, but not designed to be moved as much as I was doing at the time.
Moved on, haven't looked back. Old 'puter stuff ain't worth pondering about, as it has such a short cycle life.

I ran three Model 60s and a Model 70, connected together with a Token Ring LAN to support three key Fidonet nodes in Zone 3... very reliable and stable machines for their time.alkemyst wrote:Anyway...just wondering if anyone used them.

Handle <> 'light weight'
