Power Connection Problems

#1 Post by WillDWhite » Sat Sep 04, 2010 10:08 am

Hey Guys,

I've been running a T60 now for a few years - and I love it. However, there seems to be an issue with the plug that the AC adapter plugs in to. When I plug in the power cord, the power connects. However, if the laptop moves at all (for instance if I set it on the table or something) the power to the laptop gets disconnected - until I move the cord into a new position that the laptop recognizes as connected. The cord stays in, but the laptop makes the sound as if it was unplugged and stops receiving power.

My first guess is something inside the plug itself is loose. Maybe some soldering has come undone. (I have similar problems with my headphone jack).

When I started to think about replacing it - I realized I don't know what the part is to order it. Is it the Power Supply?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It either a loose or defective DC power jack. You'll need to remove the systemboard to replace it.

Also, a cracked wire in the a/c adapter can cause the same symptoms.
