R40 - Upgrade to a gigabyte new memory

#1 Post by gramps94804 » Mon Sep 06, 2010 8:56 am

I came into an old R40 a year ago and it is a good little work horse. But it is VERY slow:-) It has only 256 RAM. Should I upgrade to a gigabyte new memory or just trash it? Thanks for any suggestions re speeding it up.

You can even upgrade to 2x 1GB PC2100 or PC2700 SODIMMs (PC2700 is cheaper and runs just as well, albeit at PC2100 speed).
Perhaps a larger/faster hard disk?
RAM will definitely give it a good boost.

I still use my R40 for everyday stuff. It has been a workhorse for me, the RAM will definitely give it a boost and for the price would be cheaper than a newer lappy.
