"Dim" LCD - Onsite replaced LCD and Inverter already!

#1 Post by SHoTTa35 » Fri Sep 10, 2010 11:10 am

I was going to upgrade my LCD from the CCFL WXGA to LED WXGA+ but decided it's cheaper to just go to CCFL WXGA+. Before i even got the panel my LCD went dim so i called Lenovo and they shipped out a LCD (Samsung LTN141W1-L05 - 42T0581) and inverter and the guy replaced it here but still dim.

I figured it might be a LCD problem so after the guy did his thing and put it all back together (and ordered a motherboard and LCD ribbon) I took it apart and checked the ribbon again. Booted it up completely (only the WIFI LED shows underneath the LCD) so the inverter is getting some power. I however pulled it out while the system was on and plugging it back in (with system ON) the backlight does come on! It stays on until i reboot or put it to sleep. If i wake the system with the FN key then the light comes back on but if i close/open the lid it doesn't. Lenovo (automated) call me this morning to tell me my order (for the ribbon and/or motherboard) is backordered so who knows when i'll get it.

So question - anyone think it's fixable, i checked ebay for the cable (42T0581 ) and nobody has it. They only have the one without camera. I was just thinking to get that one for now then as i don't use my webcam that much anyways.

Anyone wanna loan me a cable tho? :D That way i can just use it to find out if that's the cause of the problem so i'll know for sure that when i get the cable from Lenovo that it will be fixed finally!
