CPU compatiblity question for T41

#1 Post by manteiv » Fri Sep 10, 2010 11:00 pm

Will the following CPU work with my T41?

1- SL6FH Pentium 4 M 1.8GHZ 400FSB
2- SL7S9 Pentim M 1.85 GHz 533FSB with 2MB L2 cache

my current one is 1.5GHz with only 1MB L2 cache and I think something with 2MB L2 cache will run faster

thanks

No.

For T41, you need one of those:

SL7EN (1.8)
SL7EM (2.0)
SL7V3 (2.1)

These are all Dothans with 2MB L2 cache.

all those CPU you mentioned are so expensive!

are you sure the SL7S9 will not work? it is 533 FSB and 2MB L2 cache, this CPU can be bought on ebay for about $10 whereas the other ones you mentioned are significantly more expensive

Yes I AM sure.

Mix & match doesn't work when it comes to FSB. Some fairly complex math applies there, but the bottom line is:

You'd have it running at (at the very best of circumstances) 4/5 of its max speed which would be 1488 Mhz...

Expensive? I don't know...just sold SL7EN for less than $30 shipped...this time last year they were double the price...

I think that you mean SL7V3 ... not SL7VB.
