known imperfections:

- Significant wear on the lid. I'm not talking scratches, cracks, usual age-related stuff. This lid is actually uneven in certain areas, pretty hard to describe, but like something warm was put on it and quickly removed, or someone tried to get rid of a large asset tag with a powerful chemical. Neither is probably true, but I'm out of ideas on this one - a pretty sight it's not - but will guarantee that the LCD has not been affected whatsoever, it displays perfectly (within its specs and capabilities) and the rest of the machine is in very good to excellent condition, really no flaws to describe appearance-wise. Clean keyboard/palmrest, bottom...keep the lid open and enjoy an almost perfect R40...

- The hard disk drive (Hitachi 60GB/7200 with a FRU and recovery partition) is noisy and has some bad sectors. It appears to be working OK, but I'm not giving any type of guarantee on it, and most certainly would not store any valuable data there. For browsing the web, playing a DVD or burning a CD - it should work just fine. Caveat emptor.

All of this said, not a bad machine at all. Quite the opposite.
