wireless keyboards
wireless keyboards
I just hooked an external monitor to my T400 and, well ... I love it. I don't know what took me so long. Now I'm considering getting a wireless keyboard/mouse and leaving the laptop closed, or only as an extra display as needed ...
Do you guys have a favorite wireless keyboard? I'm going to hit J&R and B&H to try them out, but I want to make sure I don't miss any goodies.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: wireless keyboards
I have a 400s with a docking station hooked up to the usual suspects. I know it may sound sort of lame, but I tried the Microsoft Comfort Desktop 5000 on a whim because Costco had them on sale or there was a rebate (I don't remember which) so I was able to pick one up for about $40. Just as I was getting out to my car, I decided to go back in an grab another one for my work desktop so I now have the same keyboard/mouse at both locations (couldn't hurt to have the same set-up at home/work and with Costco's liberal return policy I'd have 90 days to decided whether they were really working for me).
Turns out that I love the set-up. I'm assuming that someone makes these for MS, but I don't know who that is. Oddly, I also owned a couple of the original MS Natural Key keyboards and really liked those, too.
YMMV, of course, but if you're a Costco member I'd consider seeing whether they have the same deal today (I haven't bothered to look since I bought mine a few months ago).

Re: wireless keyboards
Microsoft has always made good peripherals. Their mice are my favorite, though when not on a trackpoint I'm using a cheap Logitech these days---it was free.

Indeed, Sidewinder Precision Pro was the best joystick I have ever used. They gave up on Sidewinder to focus on Xbox, but revived the brand a couple years ago, making gaming mice and keyboards.miketoro wrote:Microsoft has always made good peripherals.

Nice. I had an early Sidewinder for Flight Simulator way back in the day. Great joystick.automobus wrote:Sidewinder Precision Pro

Re: wireless keyboards
I like saving my ports when possible, so I'd be inclined to buy a BT keyboard so as not to use one for the dongle. However, I wonder (and worry) if it's easy to sniff the transmission in some kind of keylogging process. Not an issue with a mouse, I know.

Re: wireless keyboards
I know they make BT wireless key loggers, but like the wired kind, they require initial setup on the target computer.

Re: wireless keyboards
I got tired of feeding batteries to cordless keyboards and mice. I used to use Logitec Freedom something or other sets, which were nice, but battery hogs, so I gave up and went back to cords. A docking station with USB keyboard and mouse and a nice monitor (or two) suits me just fine.
