Is the T41 10/100/1000 network port a daughtercard?

#1 Post by johnport » Thu Mar 10, 2005 9:59 pm

Hello,

Is the Intel PRO 10/100/1000 MT mobile connection port on the T41 a removable/replaceable daughter card or is it integral to the system board?

Thanks

No...it is part of the system board. It cannot be replaced/upgraded.

Why? Are you having trouble with ir? Or do you have a preference for another NIC?

Just wondering.

Hi,

It may have suffered "child" damage. I wasn't sure from the Hardware manual if it was a replaceable bit or not. I figured if it was, I could swap it out when I open it up to upgrade the wifi card to a G.

I hardly ever use it so sending it in for warranty isn't worth it to me.

Thanks!

Yeah, but in a couple years when you go to sell it, you will have to mention it doesn't work, or when you plan on transfering large files, or go somewhere where there isn't wireless...
send it in to ez-serv and you will get a new board

Or the "child" might inherit it :D

I am of the opposite opinion, if you use the Thinkpad regularly, fuggid aboud it! buy some cheapie PC Card NIC and use that when needed.

In a few years, the Thinkpad will become the backup notebook toa newer Thinkpad T50/55/60 unit I would imagine
