t42 windows 7 wireless dropping

#1 Post by period3 » Tue Sep 14, 2010 7:42 am

I'm running a t42 with an intel 2100 wireless b card, and it's constantly dropping my wireless connection every two minutes or so. I've tried two routers - a dlink, and a linksys wrt54gl, and I have the same problem with both.

I was thinking of just upgrading the wireless. Can anyone recommend a decent mini PCI wireless card that would work in this machine? (I don't mind flashing the bios with the '1802 error' fix)

Hi,

What is controling your Wireless card? Windows 7 or Thinkvantage Access Connections? If the problem is happening with one of the programs dropping your connection then try the other one.

And if that fails there is always A USB Dongle or PCMCIA Card. I have tthe Intel B/G in two of my T43s and a A/B/G in my R52 Access Connections handles my cards. MY T41 has an SMC PCMCIA Card A/B and it is handled by the SMC Software.

Give the different software a before buying a new card, Unless you really want a new card...
