what kind of setup do I need to get a useable setup?, regular VGA hookup is poor, using my 50" plasma TV.

What model is this plasma TV, and what's the native reslution? The first thing to check is whether VGA input to this TV supports the native resolution, and the manual should tell you that. If you are indeed using the native res, then perhaps the image isn't focused well, and pressing the TV's "Auto adjust" button should help. If you can't get the native res through VGA, then you will need to use the HDMI input. To achieve that, you will need to get the Dock II which has DVI output, and a DVI-to-HDMI adapter.

I do that. Best connection is the VGA connector. It is way better than S-Video or Composite video.

Just connect it and go to Display properties to add. You can also use Fn + F7 to toggle between displays if the proper software is installed.

EDIT: Don't have a dock, so haven't tried that.
