T42 Recovery Disks

#1 Post by Boricua65 » Sun Sep 19, 2010 5:13 pm

I recently bought a TP T42 and also managed to download the recovery disk. I noticed on the instructions I have to have 7 CD-Rs to burn the recovery. Is there a possible way to burn all on a DVDR? If this question has been answered please forgive me and point me in right direction. TIA

You can burn the first disk to CD/R and the remainder to a DVD/R. The first disk is the bootable one which is also called the Rescue Media CD (IIRC). The first disk boots you into Rescue and Recovery (IIRC) where you can perform other operations as well.

I did create the CD-R for the iso of the recovery disk. I burned the other folders into a DVD and now it is not being recognized. It's asking for Product Recovery Disc 1, I click OK and nothing happens. I click on Cancel and it restarts to that same place for disc 1.

Yes, except for I used a "c" for Disk instead of the "k". Does that make a difference? When I used the disk, the dialogue box used a "c" not a "k".

I just burned a CD (not DVD) and named it just like it ask Product Recovery Disc 1 and it still didn't do anything :( .

Did you use the Create Recovery Media software (off of the Start menu) to create the disks? AFAIK, you can only use this one time until you Restore Factory Contents.

If you got an ISO from somewhere, you would need to "Burn image to disk", not copy files to disk.
