Does anyone have this set-up : Dock with USB speakers !

Does anyone have the folloing set-up :

ThinkPad on the Docking station. Speakers having USB cable connected to the dock. How does it sound ? Is the regular RCA connector better that the USB, worst or the same ? Your feedback is more than welcomed.

I'm not really an audiophile, but I had a pair of V10s hooked to my Mac Mini. It was OK, but it's never going to match a pair of quality speakers with a sub plugged into the wall.
