1988, brought from Sears a Lazer brand Compact XT, 512kb of memory, CGA or Herc graphics, one 5 1/2 floppy in the side like an Apple IIC. Tried to order the chips to reach 640k, ended up with the add on 1mb LIM board! No chips tho. Wasn't long till I was up to 640 tho.
Less than a year later got the expanded memory chips bought cheep.
Had both externall 2nd floppy drives, the 360k and the much nicer 720. Few years later I opened it for the last time and replaced the built in floppy with a 3.5 version, cuts boot up time when you don't have to switch floppys. Thought I had a fast machine with the thing in Turbo mode, both 720 drives hooked up and Ramdrive.
Humm, maybe I should load dos5 on the 240 that has a dim screen?

The first computer I owned was given to me. It was an Apple IIGS. The next year, I was given an HP Omnibook 5700CT; recently, the hinges on the screen broke. That same year, I was searching through my dad's junk closet and found an almost complete Commodore PC-XT clone, which he let me keep. Later on, I found a Packard Bell Force 443CD at a Goodwill store, which was my first computer with Windows on it. In 2004, I assembled a computer from parts I bought online for cheap. It has 512Mb memory, 120Gb hard drive, 2GHz Celeron, WiFi adapter, and a high-end graphics card. 2005, I bought an HP 200LX Palmtop, which has MS-DOS 5 on it, and a CGA LCD screen. Then this year (2006) I got too many computers to list them all. They were a bunch of no-name computers, a Dell, and two Compaq's. There was an HP Vectra, an IBM PC300GL, and four IBM NetVistas. There are also the two laptops I bought last month. One was a Compaq Armada 1130t, which for some reason they decided NOT to put sound hardware into it (but what can you expect for $4?). The other laptop was an IBM ThinkPad 365xd that I'm still trying to get working, that has a built-in CD-ROM drive.
