Which SSD To Buy? Lenovo Branded Samsung, or Third Party?

#1 Post by epu » Sat Sep 25, 2010 6:40 am

Looking at all of the offerings. Lenovo repackages the Samsung 128 and 256GB and ships it with their units and I've read mixed reviews on them (reliability, dead after a year, etc). Then there's offerings from companies such as Crucial (4 1/2 Eggs on New Egg, twice as fast as the Samsungs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... llFullInfo ).

Have any of you purchased and installed third party SSDs as your C: drive? What should I be looking for besides TRIM? I will be using Win 7/64 when I get it (have XP now). Though I have an SLC Express Card drive, I WILL be going MLC. I am NOT interested in the INTEL SSDs b/c though they've been praised, I NEED storage space, 256GB miniumum as I am working with Audio on my X200 Tablet. My budget is $600 max. The Crucials are close to $600 w/the Samsung 256GB SSDs going anywhere from $300 - $400.

Any suggestions or comments? Thank you!

I got the Patriot Inferno 240GB for the x200. Pretty fast, no issue here yet (but have only been using it for 2 weeks).

Most of my SSD's are third party -- to save repeating the list again, check out this short SSD thread from the T4x0/T5x0 Forum :)
