Hi,
I noticed some weird 'interference' or noise from the VGA Output. Think of it as slightly visible video snow but with horizontal streaks instead of dots. My X32's back rests on a 1cm high plastic ruler, sometimes it falls from it, then bending the VGA Port a bit, so I thought I busted it.
But I randomly unplugged the USB HDD (3"1/2) Adapter from the Port near the VGA one and the noise disappeared. Plugging the same HDD on the left-side USB causes the noise to come again.
I tried :
- USB Key, both USB Ports, directly with no cable : no noise
- USB Disc Burner, back port only, via a long cable : no noise
I thought it was the power brick causing magnetic interference, trying to move it away didn't change a thing. As soon as the adapter is connected, the noise comes up.
Is that adapter badly shielded ? grounded ? I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to electrical stuff.

Re: [X32] Troubles between USB and VGA causing noise.
Hi.
I have a similar problem but is not with my X32, but i wil explain why iam answering your post...
I Have a Nintendo Wii connected via SCART do my CRT TV, and i have one external HDD 3.5" connected trought USB to Wii. When i turn on the HDD, my TV Show interference too...and i think...hm...maybe Hard Disk is making an magnetic filed.
To avoid this, i boutght one USB extension to connect my HDD far way (4m maybe) from TV and Wii. And....i still have interference!.
I think your problem is not your thinkpad, the problem is the USB cable is making interference with VGA Singal.
VGA and SCART are both analog, both can suffer interferences from external sorces. Try using the left USB port using a good and shielded USB extension.
I really dont know why this appen, i didnt knew that USB make all this interferences.

Re: [X32] Troubles between USB and VGA causing noise.
Yeah, confirmation about HDD magnetic field, even if the disk is spinning it doesn't affect the VGA signal as long as the usb adapter is not connected to both sides.
I'm not sure it's a simple interference problem ( at least in my case ) cause even while using another usb port far from the vga port, noise appear as soon as it's plugged.
I'll try your idea though, and try on my other laptops.
Thanks
