Correct voltage for T42 battery?

#1 Post by andertrack » Wed Sep 29, 2010 4:27 pm

I have a 6 cell battery for my T42 2373, and it is running at a voltage of 12.35 (1.12 amps, and 13.73 watts) Are these numbers in the right range? I was looking for a replacement and the most common voltage I saw was 10.8

As long as you buy an IBM/Lenovo battery (and not a cheap Chinese knock-off) the battery will have the correct voltage (10.8V is the 'going rate').
If your laptop charges at a different voltage /amperage, but using the correct adapter and battery, all is well.

The maximum voltage at 100% charge is 12.55V, the minimum (at 5% charge) depends on manufacture of battery, for Sanyo it is about 10.8V, for Sony and Panasonic: 10.4-10.6V.
Your voltage is normal if the number you showed is when the battery charge is around 90-100%.
