12" sleeves for X40 and extended battery (8-cell)
edit: my bad, if someone can move to appropriate forum, I'd appreciate.
after replacing the base of my old x40 (they come with "legs"!), and getting a new battery, my laptop is almost ready for the road (again)
does anyone know if either of these fits the 'bigger' battery?
The first one should be, but I thought I'd ask anyway

the X41 was only sold with the 8 cell so anything designed for it should take that into account.

I'd lean toward the first one (I have one almost just like it except that it's marked IBM) since by design, the "depth" is adjustable given that the flap is on that side and it slides. When I was carrying an X41 quite a bit, I used it inside of my regular "briefcase" with both the 4-cell and the 8-cell battery and the only difference was that the flap slid down a little more with the larger battery. I'm about to up it back to use since my project X40 is loading up literally "as we speak".

Re: 12" sleeves for X40 and extended battery (8-cell)
I’ve just purchased a LIBX40 8-cell from eBay seller laptopwebsavings in ON Canada. It seems fine so far in my x41 (though inability to proof read simple English on the label concerns me re quality so for the next one I’ll try a different brand.).
A few years ago I purchased a 4-cell battery IBM battery from Seattle Laptop and was not happy with it, beyond its obvious much smaller capacity (while having the normal IBM label it also had an “Energy+” label and was in an “Energy+” box.
I also have a wedge aux battery for the x41, capacity not worth what I paid IBM for it, but it is another option to increase capacity.
The 8-cell does stick out the back, helps carry the computer as fingers wrap around its bump cross-section more securely than the rectangular back end of the computer with 4-cell.
I gather from photos on eBay that the x41 Tablet battery has a notch at the back where the display pivot is. Elsewhere in this forum someone advises there is a tab interlock difference at the connector.

I own one of the first, and dont particularly like it. Office Depot has some almost identical for $10.00. The closest i can find is this: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/9 ... op-Sleeve/
But this is not it. I have both X30 and X31, with the external batteries installed, no issues.
YMMV
