Need help burning CDs on T23
Need help burning CDs on T23
I just picked up a recertified T23 with CD-R. I am trying to burn a CD with the installed RecrodNow. When I start up Recrod Now and click Make Data Disk I get an error message "No compatable recordable or rewritable devices could be found on your system. Would you like to check if an update is available?"
I just want to burn a CD with some files in folder. Could this be a bad drive? I can read fromit OK. As far as I can tell there is no drive access before I get the message. Do I need to do something to install the drive?
Thanks

Clarification
Sorry for not being more clear. I should be a le to burn to it. It is a CD-RW/DVD IV model GCC-4240N
When I bought my T-23 from E-Bay last April, it had a CD-ROM drive in it and no RecordNow, no shock there. I bought a CD-R/DVD player drive for it and installed Easy CD Creator 5.0 to burn CDs with. Last month, I replaced the hard drive and re-installed everthing from the factory CDs. RecordNow showed up this time, I guess the install process saw the CD-R burner during the, well, the install process. However, it gives me the"no recordable device found" message when I try to use it. FINE, I said, I just re-installed Easy CD Creator and went on with life. Never tried to find out the problem with RecordNow.

Try uniinstalling the CD-R, then removing it from the bay, boot up once without the CD-R in the drive, and then insert the CD-R and boot again. Windows will "re-find" the drive and hopefully, so will RecordNow. Also, make sure UDMA is enabled for the CD-R. Beyond this, I'm stumped.

I have a M a t s u s h i t a ujda730 combo drive that gives the same error with RecordNow, I also had a couple of ujda710 combo drives that worked perfectly with RecordNow. I guess RecordNow has a list of drives it recognizes and anything else will not work. It sounds like your burner is not on the list either.
Checking for updates means looking for an updated list of burners but I could never find anything so I installed Nero and never looked back. I did try RecordNow with the drives I had that worked, and while the program did work it was nothing to write home about. If you want some cheap Nero look here: http://www.isellsurplus.com/ Sometimes they have Nero for free if you pay shipping.

Thanks, problem fixed
Reinstalling the drivers didn't help (my machine finds and uses the MS driver, not an IBM driver, is that right?)
Anyway I found version 7.22 of RecordNow on IBM's support website, downloaded and installed it and was able to burn a CD and read it in another machine.
Thanks all for the help.

Re: Need help burning CDs on T23
Go to www.ibm.com and enter GCC-4240N in the search box on the upper right of the screen. This will list eight documents that should help you.dataBoy wrote:I just picked up a recertified T23 with CD-R. I am trying to burn a CD with the installed RecrodNow.
