New LCD advice info

#1 Post by Homer1987 » Mon Oct 04, 2010 8:54 am

I have had a NEC AccuSync LCD200VX for over 5 years and it has been a great monitor. 1600 x 1200, matt screen and solid build.

It is now starting to show it age and it's time for a new LCD.

So far my #1 choice is the NEC Display Solutions EA231WMI this is an IPS panel.

#2 NEC Display Solution E231W-BK this has the LED backlight.

Please give any input on the above or another choice.

I want good build quality, 23", 1920 x 1080 and a matt screen.

I am open on the resolution, but do not want to go down in quality from my old LCD an it seems like everyyhing now is 16.9 with the 1080p.

Do not care for the "new" glossy LCD's.

Under $400.

Thanks, Kirk

For 21.5" and smaller monitors, 1920x1080 is okay, but for larger ones this resolution is too low IMO. I would suggest getting a used Dell 2407WFP on eBay, which is 1920x1200. I have three 2407WFP's and their PVA panels are great, perhaps even better than the IPS panels of my Dell U2711 ane 3008WFP, in that the PVA panels are more uniformly lit and aren't as grainy as the IPS panels.

Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP
